Death Valley National Park, California
A visual feast of multicolored layers of rock,
snow-topped mountains, cascading sand dunes and water-gouged
canyons, the desert environment of Death Valley incorporates
three million acres of stone wilderness. A place inviting
trials and the creation of new myths, Death Valley is home
to the Timbisha Shoshone and to plants and animals who thrive
in the harshest deserts.
Inyo Mountains, California
The Inyo Mountains are a rugged, dramatic
desert range rising from 1,000 feet in the Saline Valley
to just over 11,000 feet at Keynot Peak. Death Valley National
Park lies to the east, while the western side offers a spectacular
view of the Sierra Nevada range. The isolated wilderness
contains steep cliffs, rock exposures, cascading waterfalls
and deep, moist canyons. The pinyon-juniper woodlands, shadscale
scrub and sagebrush, and rare bristlecone pine create a
pristine haven for solitude.
Fall Creek Sanctuary, Oregon/California
border
Nestled on 50 acres of private land on the
border of Oregon and California, this pristine forest allows
access to over 1,500 acres of California wilderness. Near
an ancient Indian village and part of the Oregon Trail,
this charming land is blessed with a spring-fed creek flowing
through it. It is truly a tranquil setting to steep in the
silence and wonder of Nature.
